POINT HAMILTAIR

katie walking 1My wife's parents have been out of town for a few days and the task of walking their dog was handed to me.  I've been stopping by their house on my way into work in the mornings to walk her and again in the evenings on my way home to walk her again and get her dinner.

Katie is a sweet, spunky beagle who, unfortunately, lost her "momma" at the beginning of this year when my wife's grandma passed away.  Now she's a "mountain dog" (formerly from La Crescenta) sniffing the pine needles and pungent, moist soil like a St. Bernard in the Alps.  Her enthusiasm for her walks is very endearing and we've been having a great time getting to know each other a little better.

Quite honestly, I'm enjoying my short-lived chore.  It gets me out of doors more than I normally would on an average work day (sad to say).  Not only am I getting some much needed exercise, but my in-laws live in beautiful Point Hamiltair.

Point Hamiltair GatehousePoint Hamiltair is quite arguably one of the most sought after and prestigious private communities in Lake Arrowhead.  Named after a wealthy business man who owned Hamilton Air, this quiet community is located on the western side of the lake.  The "point" (as it is known locally) is located on a peninsula of land, affording many lakefront home locations.  Interior homes, many times, have lake views and even those without are a short walk down to the community dock and the lake.

Homes in this gated community have some homogenous traits (due to homeowner association rules and regulations), sharing wood-shake roof construction and split-rail fencing bordering their lots most of the time.  However, that is where the similarities end.  The homes themselves are extremely diverse in size and style.  There are truly some jaw-dropping properties here.

In our walk "around the block" yesterday evening, we passed many homes that I could easily set-up residence in - especially the Chateau Enchante which was sold by Brian Wilson (of Beach Boys fame) last year for a whopping $5.45 million (and was easily worth every penny).  There are grand lakefront estates with rolling lawns and meticulously manicured landscaping as well as relatively modest interior homes that would be very comfortable and easy to maintain - something for everyone.

Chateau EnchanteBesides Chateau Enchante, only two other homes sold here in 2007.  One of these was a lakefront, selling for $1,512,500 (219 days on market) and the interior home sold for $1,725,000 (after 323 days on the market). Currently there are five properties for sale in Point Hamiltair, ranging from $949,000 to $3,950,000.  Two of these are lakefront homes: both are 5 bedroom, 5.5 bath homes - one is listed for $3,950,000 and the other at $3,900,000 - take your pick!  The three interior homes range from just under a million dollars ($995,000) to $1,349,000 and all have 3 bedrooms.

To view any of these homes, or for more information about them, please contact us.  We are happy to send, fax or email whatever information you may be seeking.

I'm getting ready to leave the office pretty soon and will be making my last visit to walk Katie (my in-laws get back into town tonight).  I must admit, I'm going to miss my walks with Katie (not that I'm volunteering to do it each day, if you're reading this Mike and Pam!) and will look forward to "filling-in" again as the need arises.  Not only do I enjoy Katie and her company, but strolling through the beautiful community of Point Hamiltair with its streets lined by immense pine trees and infused with the smell of the lake is nothing short of paradise.
