Whether you're looking for shopping, boating, relaxing, mountain biking, wake boarding, great food, or anything else, chances are that you'll find what you're looking for in Lake Arrowhead. Whether you're looking to buy or sell property here, or just up for a visit, there are several things that you will want to know and be aware of:
Lake Arrowhead is a Private Lake
Most importantly, you should know that Lake Arrowhead is a private lake. Not just anyone can come up and put a boat on the lake or throw a fishing line in the water (like at Big Bear Lake). You MUST own land within the boundaries of Arrowhead Woods in order to enjoy the lake and the recreational activities associated with the water.
People who own property in Arrowhead Woods (including lakefront homes) have "lake rights." These rights enable such things as: putting a boat on the lake (with proper registration, insurance, etc.), owning a dock, fishing, swimming and utilizing the beach clubs (with membership).
ONLY people in Arrowhead Woods have "lake rights." No other community in the mountains has these rights. Accordingly, people owning property in Arrowhead Woods are also subject to Arrowhead Lake Association and Arrowhead Woods Architectural Committee rules and regulations.
Properties in Arrowhead Woods
Because of the added benefits of lake use, properties in Arrowhead Woods are typical more expensive than comparable homes outside of "the Woods." They also tend to have higher re-sale values. Right now, prices in Arrowhead Woods start in the high $200,000's, with median list prices hovering around $500,000. Lakefront homes are starting in the $900,000's and go up to several million dollars.
Lake Arrowhead Shopping and Recreation
There are two main hubs of commerce in the Lake Arrowhead areas: Lake Arrowhead Village and Blue Jay Village (where our office is located). The "Village," incidentally, is the only place that visitors that get their feet wet. Unfortunately, there is no public beach. However, for those that want to get wet, there is McKenzie's Water Ski School. Take a lesson if you don't already know how to ski, or go out and take a spin around the lake if you do.
The only other way to get on the water in Lake Arrowhead (without being a property owner) is on the Lake Arrowhead Queen, a lovely old river boat that gives a fun and informative tour of the lake. For departure times and more information, please call 909.336.6992.
Blue Jay is home to our office, Coldwell Banker Sky Ridge Realty, as well as many great stores. Jensen's Finest Foods (whose original building is where our office is now located) is at the other end of the parking lot from us and is a wonderful grocery store with many specialty and high-end items. Lake Arrowhead is also home to the extraordinary Lake Arrowhead Country Club. This is a private club and does not have reciprocity with other clubs. They have a beautiful golf course, a recently-remodeled club house with restaurant, swimming pool and children's play area. They also have a full tennis facility. Communities in Lake Arrowhead
In addition to the gorgeous residential areas of Lake Arrowhead, there are also numerous gated community throughout this mountain community. Some are bordering the lake's edge, others are removed from the water. If you were to start in Lake Arrowhead Village and head around the east side of the lake, you would encounter the private, gated neighborhoods of Village Cove, Arrowhead Canyon Estates, Cedar Ridge Estates, North Shore Estates, Shelter Cove, Canturbury Estates, Old Hamiltair, Point Hamiltair, Rainbow Point, and Totem Pole Point. There are many luxurious and draw-dropping properties found within these communities - each has unique qualities that make them highly desirable. Surrounding Arrowhead Woods are the other sub-communities of Arrowhead Villas, Agua Fria, Cedar Glen, Crest Park, Crest Estates, Deer Lodge Park, Rim Forest, Skyforest and Twin Peaks. Though none of them have lake rights, each is unique and has many different things to offer people.
Lake Arrowhead Real Estate
Real estate prices in these areas, as mentioned before, are typically lower than comparable properties listed in Arrowhead Woods. Currently, prices in the areas outside of Arrowhead Woods range start around $100,000 and go up to just under $2,000,000. The median list price is about $300-350,000.
Our local area brokers have a gentlemen's agreement that eliminates "for sale" signs being posted on properties in these areas. Therefore, if you are interested in seeing homes while you are in Lake Arrowhead, please call us so we can give you information about what homes are currently listed. Driving around to look at open houses will only show you a minute fraction of the homes actually on the market.
