The Running Springs area of our mountains is actually comprised of three subcommunities: Running Springs, Arrowbear and Green Valley Lake.
If you are travelling from Lake Arrowhead along Highway 18 (or coming up the hill on Highway 330), you will come to Running Springs first and then Arrowbear. Turn left from Highway 18 on Green Valley Lake Road (after you've gone through Arrowbear) and you'll follow this windy road to Green Valley Lake (which is the highest in elevation of all the communities covered in our Mulitple Listing Service area).
Running Springs is by far the largest of the three communities as well as the most commercial. Driving through the main part of town, you will discover a number of different businesses, restaurants and shops. Arrowbear is home to Arrowbear Lake. This is the most shallow of the lakes in our area and currently has no facilities or activities associated with it. Adjacent to the lake, though, is the Arrowbear baseball field and park. There are a number of shops, a lumber yard / hardware store, a coin-op car wash and a few places to grab a bite to eat, etc. This is also where you will find the entrance to Children's Forest and the Keller Peak area of the San Bernardino National Forest. Arrowbear is also know for the renowned Arrowbear Music Camp.
Green Valley Lake has an adorable, small lake for people to enjoy. It is regularly stocked with fish and fishing is available for a daily fee (I caught my share of fish here in my childhood). Of course, a state fishing license is required. There are also boat rentals and a small beach area to enjoy. To access the community's website, click here Green Valley Lake . |
